How I Met Radio 1190:
Started volunteering early this summer to take care of needed community service hours. From there I started doing live sound with Guthrey (I mixed Fell in June), and became interested in being on the air.
First Album Purchased:
Blink 182 (Enigma of the State). I was young, and the songs were catchy. It would be Blink 182's last stand before diving head-first into commercial pop-punk.
First Concert:
Huey Lewis and the New. (I was about 10 years old). The first concert I chose to go to was headlined by Metallica.
Favorite Concert:
Ozzfest 2005
Headlined by Black Sabbath (all original members inc. Ozzy), Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Black Label Society, Mastodon, In Flames, Trivium, and about 10 other lessfamous bands. It was an awesome all-day metal festival. Seeing the original Black Sabbath was amazing, not to mention the legendary Iron Maiden. Good friends, great music, and perfect weather made this my favorite concert. I also got to meet and get posters signed from Shadows Fall and In Flames!
Most Desperately Desired Musical Reunion:
Bring John Bonham back from the crypt and put the original Led Zep back on stage and I'll die happy.
Recommended Media:
The textbook for MUSC 2852 (Music of the Rock era) written by James Brody is an excellent historical source chronologically explaining the birth and expansion of what we call Rock and Roll. I took his class last summer, and the textbook was and still is an excellent read. It exposed me to some really old school rock and roll that I've never heard before. Really interesting book.
