What's Happening
Pledge Drive swag is in the mail!
Huge thanks to our watt owners for their unlimited patience! For the past few days, Radio 1190 volunteers have been mailing out shirts, water bottles, mix tapes, Rocket Cards, and more. If you pledged during the Spring 2008 Marathon and have paid in full, you should be seeing your thank you gifts very soon. We still have some more mailing to do, we just wanted to let you know to watch your soon-to-be-filled mailbox.
CD of the Month
Radio 1190’s CD of the Month for July is the self-titled debut album from Hercules and Love Affair. Hercules and Love Affair is primarily the project of New York-based Andrew Butler who began his musical career as a club DJ in his hometown of Denver. More than four years ago Butler approached Antony (of the Johnsons) after being blown away by his voice and they began work on the “Blind” single. Through New York’s downtown scene Butler met fellow DJ Kim Ann Foxman and vocalist Nomi who rounded out the band.
Radio 1190 Wins Westword's "Best Radio Station"
Westword just put out their 25th annual "Best of Denver" awards and gave us our tenth award in a row! Radio 1190 was named "Best Radio Station."
"Back in 1998, before it was subsumed by Clear Channel, Jacor wound up with one more station than it could keep under FCC rules. Instead of holding a fire sale, execs donated it to the University of Colorado at Boulder, which up until then had made do with a school radio station that broadcast to the dorms using carrier current. A decade later, Radio 1190 is a station worthy of celebrating, with a reach that goes far outside of CU and even Boulder. It's an oasis of exciting music, creative programming and community support in a desert of corporate mediocrity. Happy tenth, and may there be many more anniversaries to follow."

Flood Fails to Destroy Radio 1190
We are about three weeks in to our most recent disaster, caused by a Boulder city water main break on June 6, 2008. As we noted before, insurance will cover the big stuff, but to commemorate the soaking of 2008, we've printed up some collectible buttons. You can get one, along with our most valuable Rocket Card (10% off anytime at your favorite independent record stores) and a 10th Anniversary limited edition Radio 1190 bumper sticker all for a small donation.
An online contribution of $11.90 will go toward rebuilding the music library as well as covering other costs incurred by this nasty flood. CD, vinyl, shelving, that kind of stuff. Your contribution will keep us from sinking in the murk and mud of corporate radio. Be a lifesaver. Click HERE to donate $11.90 via our airtight secure server. Current watt owners as well as new, just one watt right now will make you a lifesaver and help the AM Revolution survive the flood of 2008! And THANK YOU!!!
